Since 1981, the Ministry of Culture and Media has honoured ten particularly outstanding artistic positions each year by awarding work scholarships and supporting visual artists in their further artistic development after completing their training, pursuing new projects and building networks.

The exhibition ARBEITSSTIPENDIUM FÜR BILDENDE KUNST DER FREIEN UND HANSESTADT HAMBURG 2022/2023/2024 in the Falckenberg Collection, Deichtorhallen Hamburg presents a selection of works by the thirty artists who were awarded a working scholarship for visual arts by the Ministry of Culture and Media in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Numerous former scholarship holders have made a name for themselves nationally and internationally following the scholarship. They include Stephan Balkenhol, Andreas Slominski, Mariella Mosler, Jeanne Faust, Christoph Schäfer, Helena Wittmann, Thorsten Brinkmann, Annika Kahrs and Boran Burchardt.
