Analog Zine-making serves as a creative tool for developing photographic themes and experimenting with new visual ideas. The focus is on a spontaneous, associative, and open-ended process that allows space for creative freedom and unexpected discoveries.
The workshop explores the connection between external photographic (archival) material and personal images (if available). The selection, sequencing, and materiality of the photographs, as well as various visual methods of intervention—including enlargements, repetitions, overwritings, and distortions—are at the center of attention. Different forms of storytelling open up new perspectives. Working analog allows for spontaneous, associative processes to emerge: Where do image layers overlap? Which visual elements support a narrative? In addition to aesthetic and poetic approaches, the workshop provides space for a critical engagement with the political dimensions of themes, archives, and images in zine-making.
All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own images, printed texts, magazines, test prints, or sketches. The finished zines will be documented at the end and can be taken home.
