FOTOPROJEKT:
INFORMATION IS CURRENCY!

Informationen sind die momentane Währung, und Informationen werden am schnellsten durch die sozialen Medien verbreitet. Worin Informationen nicht nur Text, sondern zum Großteil auch Bilder sind. Über den Klub der Künste wurden junge Fotograf*innen aus Hamburg, Khartoum, Abidjan, Casablanca und Johannesburg miteinander in Verbindung gesetzt. Die beim Kickoff entstandenen Zweier-Gruppen tauschten sich über alltägliche oder soziale, politische oder persönliche Umstände per WhatsApp und Instagram usw. aus. Visuell und textlich wird diese »Währung« im Projekt umgesetzt. Welchen besonderen Wert haben diese Informationen über Lebensumstände und Zusammenhänge abseits des öffentlichen, offiziellen Nachrichten- und Informationsflusses? Beispielsweise sind aufgrund der aktuellen politischen Lage in Khartoum und des unterbrochenen Informationsflusses durch gestörtes Internet und Mobilfunk gerade hier direkte Informationen über soziale Netzwerke, die bruchstückhaft durchkommen von großem »Wert«.

Bei dem Projekt entstanden sind persönliche Dialoge der jeweiligen Partner, die den Austausch und Wert dieser »Informationswährung« mehr und mehr zu schätzen verstanden und dadurch einen unmittelbaren Einblick in die eigenen Lebensumstände gewährten.

In wöchentlichen Zoom-Meetings mit allen Teilnehmer*innen und den lokalen Partnern wurden die entstandenen Kommunikationen (bildlich und textlich) über vier Monate vorgestellt, besprochen und weiterentwickelt. Über fast vier Monate von Januar bis Mitte April 2022 wurden Informationen ausgetauscht. Aus dem entstandenen Material hat André Lützen gemeinsam mit den Teilnehmer*innen die Ausstellung entwickelt und konzeptioniert. Die Arbeiten werden auf 5 Monitoren und in Printform zur 8. Triennale der Photographie in der Galerie im Gang der Kulturellen Bildung (Halle für aktuelle Kunst) gezeigt.

Information is the currency of the moment, and information is spread most rapidly through social media. Information is not only text, but mainly also images. We connected young photographers from Hamburg, Khartoum, Abidjan, Casablanca and Johannesburg. Two of them each, brought together at the kickoff meeting, exchanged information about everyday or social, political or personal circumstances via WhatsApp and Instagram etc. Visually and textually, this exchanged »currency« is the theme of the project. What is the value of this information about life circumstances and contexts away from the public, official news and information flow? Using the example of the current political situation in Khartoum and the interrupted flow of information due to disrupted Internet and mobile phone service, direct information via social networks, which partially gets through, is of great »value« here.

The results were personal dialogues between the respective partners, who came to appreciate the exchange and value of this »information currency« more and more, thus providing a direct and almost intimate insight into their living conditions.

In weekly Zoom meetings with all participants and the local partners, the resulting communications (pictorial and textual) were presented, discussed and further developed. Information was exchanged over almost four months from January to mid-April 2022. From the resulting material André Lützen developed and conceptualized the exhibition together with the participants. The works will be shown on 5 monitors and in print form at the 8th Triennial of Photography in the Gallery in the Corridor of Cultural Education (Hall of Contemporary Art).
